Getting There
Flights & Transport

Flying In

The nearest airport is Chennai International Airport (MAA). Kaldan Samudhra is located in Mahabalipuram, approximately 1.5 hours south of Chennai by road.

We will arrange shuttle transport from Chennai to Mahabalipuram on Saturday morning, so you don't need to worry about the last leg of the journey. We'll reach out closer to the date to sort out pick-up logistics.

From Hong Kong

If you're not planning adjacent travel in India, we'd suggest the following:

  • Friday 12 Feb: Cathay CX 641 departing HKG at 9:20 PM, arriving Chennai (MAA) at 12:35 AM. We'll have accommodation sorted for you to sleep on arrival.
  • Take the shuttle to Mahabalipuram on Saturday morning.
  • Monday 15 Feb: There's no convenient direct return currently scheduled on Monday. We'd suggest a one-stop option via Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, or Bangkok, most with short layovers under 3 hours.
Cathay has historically operated a Tuesday 2am direct (MAA–HKG), with availability through November 2026. It may be worth waiting a few months to see if February 2027 opens up.

Other Travelers

Many of you may be combining the wedding with a longer trip to India, amazing! As long as you arrive at the Kaldan Samudhra by Saturday afternoon, you're all set. Feel free to reach out if you'd like help planning your wider India itinerary.

Visas
Entry requirements for India

In most cases you can apply for an e-Visa online at indianvisaonline.gov.in. Notably, HKSAR passport holders will need to apply through the Indian consulate or embassy instead. You can check your eligibility for the e-Visa on the website. We recommend applying at least 8 weeks in advance.

Sightseeing in Mahabalipuram
While you're here

If you have a few hours to spare, especially on Monday morning before heading off, Mahabalipuram is a UNESCO World Heritage town with some incredible sights a short drive from the resort.

Shore Temple

A stunning 8th-century temple complex overlooking the Bay of Bengal. One of the oldest structural stone temples in South India, especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset.

Arjuna's Penance

One of the largest open-air rock reliefs in the world: a massive carved tableau depicting scenes from Hindu mythology.

Pancha Rathas (Five Rathas)

Five monolithic temples carved from single rocks in the 7th century, each in a different architectural style. Remarkably well-preserved.
